These are the recordings that launched the East Village/NYHC scene - commercially available for the first time. In the Spring/Summer of 1981, Bobby Steele & Co created a sensation out of one of America's most violent slums - even drawing major celebrities to the once feral wasteland.
Formed in late 1980 by former MISFITS guitarist, Bobby Steele... THE UNDEAD's debut on January 30, 1981 marked the birth of the East Village Renaissance. Banned from both CBGB and MAX's for his outrageous behavior, Bobby's new band soon earned a reputation for the extreme reactions of their Hardcore fans, and many clubs were left in ruins after an UNDEAD show.
This is the real deal. While other bands sold out their principles, THE UNDEAD has stayed true to the punk ethic. Always a survivor, Bobby continues to self-release his recordings - flying in the face of labels that said it couldn't be done.
